I have still not read the Sil, but yesterday at an antique shop I got a really old copy of the Sil. I've compared it to some copies I saw on eBay, and it appears to be a first edition (american). It has a cool fold-out map in the back. It is hard cover.
I bought it for $5, and it sells for around 3 times what I payed on ebay
