Re: Saruman
I always pictured Saruman dressed in a cloak. And only in a cloak. I never thought he had the same kind of hat as Gandalf did.
Anyway... I can't wait to see his cloak when becomes Saruman of Many Colors. It will propably be CG. Cool... http://www.earlyng.homestead.com/files/gandalf1.gif |

Re: Saruman
Really? Are you sure? I remember him looking exactly like Gandalf but I don't remember anything about him wearing a hat...

That's okay noldo....I didn't remember Aragorn ever smoking pipeweed.
Hullo BTW, I don't think that I ever welcomed you to Entmoot. I really like your LOTR icons....especially Theoden and Galdalf.....and Treebeard. |

Yeah, we have the icons set up in the moderator forum already. Once you've completed all of them, we'll pick the ten best and then release it board-wide

Re: icons
Yeah, the icons are great. I especially like Gandalf, he's awesome. I guess now would be a good chance to make the comments you asked for in the thing. Yeah, Merry and Pippin have a bit too much hair, and well, you know about the two green ones. Also, Gimli's a little too red like you said (he he, that rhymed.) Other than that they're awesome.

Re: icons
Pippin and Merri have bigger hair because of the entdraughts.

There are a few things wrong with the Saruman pic
1. Saruman's staff was made of wood
3. From Saruman's first appearance in the books onward, Saruman's cloak was made of many colours, not just white, so hopefully this picture is taken before Saruman captures Gandalf. 3. Why is there a hint of purple in Saruman's beard? He should have a few strands of black in his white beard, but not purple. 4. What happened to his hat? |

Re: Saruman
Hmmpf, why do you think the staff is innapropriate and to cliche? Tolkien frequently described the Wise as carrying staffs, so of course he should have one.... and being as its Saruman, the gaudy thing on top is appropriate. Gandolf's on the other hand would be much simpler, just an old tree branch or something.

Re: Saruman
Him having a staff is of course not innapropriate (which would make it appropriate ), it's the fact that it's purple.

Re: Saruman
Lee is the actor with most knowledge of LotR, he has read the books at least one time every year and also met Tolkien. He is helping other people on the set when they do anything wrong. Really good actor.
Lee : "I recently finished playing Saruman the White, the Wizard in 'LORD OF THE RINGS'. It has always been a dream of mine to bring to the screen the marvels of this wonderful work and this has allowed me to take part in a production which could well be the pinnacle of my acting career. I can't talk about it more than that, so you'll have to wait and see!" |

Re: Saruman
There is the possibility that this photo was shot of a "flashback" scene to Saruman's White days, perhaps during Gandalf's tale to the Council of Elrond. And remember, it took a moment for Gandalf to first notice that his robe was not white.
Also, Saruman can certainly appear less than hideously evil! I am a little disturbed by hearing Lee say that he has "finished" shooting. Does that mean that the "Scouring of The Shire" has been shot? Or does that mean this entire segment has gone the way of Tom Bombadil? |
