Hey, I'll pull for the Royals! Their day is coming...and there will be much sorrow among the other teams when it does

I've got tickets to the Braves-Red Sox game on June 16. Awesome.

We got Sox vs. Twins tix for Sept. 20, and plane tickets and hotel reservations, too. My wife is a Red Sox fan. I'm a Mets fan. Maybe this year one of us will be celebrating a championship.

As a Braves and Red Sox fan, I hope it's not the Mets.

All of a sudden I`ve become a Hanshin Tigers fan. The pitcher is cute- he reminds me of my host brother Shingo. I never thought I`d have any interest in baseball. I never liked playing it.

Yeah!!!

I'm glad to see somebody revived this thread!

Now, the All-Stars game was awesome! Now the Red Sox get home field advantage in the World Series!

What a stupid way to decide home field advantage... I understand they are still paranoid from the year they tied and went home but come on. The best record should get home field advantage.

Awww...where's the fun in that? True, it may be the better way to decide it, but it's hardly interesting. (Of course that means that the Sox would still get home field... )

I thought the best point about the All Star game giving home field advantage was this (can't recall where I read it). If the All Star Game is just a show for the fans, then we vote for everyone the fans love to play each other and everyone does a few innings. But if the All Star Game is a battle for home field advantage then we let the managers pick the players they need to win this advantage and the players all play most of the game. The point being that these two ideas are in conflict. And at the heart of the conflict of these ideas is, what is the purpose of the All Star Game. I'd like to see the commissioner undo this decision. Ctrl+Z!Ctrl+Z!Ctrl+Z!

I think it's stupid. The All-star game was ment to be a way for the fans to see all their favorite players playing on one field. A chance for the players to have some fun and meet the fans. It was a break in the season for teams to have a chance to rethink strategies and make trades, this still happens but now teams have to concentrate more on the game taking away from other thoughts. You start having these all-star players, most very essential to their team's success, out there playing their heart's out and someone will get hurt and ruin a teams chance for the second half of the season.

Speaking of the second half, will my Mets continue their dominance? I think so. (I hope so!)

Yeah, the Mets are doing good right now. I'm really disappointed with the Braves this year. The Reds are doing great though, so is Junior. Good for them I say. *from Ohio*

For the record, the Sox let the A's win, so that Schilling's 7th win will be more dramatic.
17 wins after a Sox loss!! Makin' it 18!

Ok I think the teams from the general New England region need to take a back seat and let someone else have some fun now. You guys are suffering from an embarrassment of riches... The Red Sox again. BC being ranked number two... The Celtics getting Garnett and Allen and talking about a championship and the Patriots dismantling teams like they dont deserve to be on the same field... What ever happened to the curse of being a Boston fan where your teams (other than the Celtics) tend to always find a way to lose. Yer gonna end up with a generation of Sox fans who act just like Yankee fans... But then maybe thats the ultimate curse. Ha ha!

Wow Strasburg proves himself to be 100% legit despite all the hype! What a first game for the kid. 14 strikeouts in 7 innings! For a 21 year old rookie facing major league hitting for the first time in his life! Way to go Stephen. And as good as his fast ball is (north of 100 mph!) this kid has a curve ball that looks nearly unhittable. Hopefully good things will continue from this rook. I havent seen DC so excited over a sports figure in a long long time (counting Ovechkin). There was electricity in that stadium last night.
