Something exciting...
If you check out IMDB as of 12:30 AM EST, Dec. 18, 2001, Fellowship is ranked #72 in IMDB's top 250 movies of all time.
What's exciting about this is that it achieved that rank with only 1301 votes. Since IMDB's rankings are weighted to take into account the number of votes a film recieved, that makes Fellowship's rank all the more impressive. If audiences continue to love it as much as they have so far (and assuming that thousands more will vote after the U.S. release), I think Fellowship is poised to skyrocket in the rankings. Granted, rank is just a numbers game, and IMDB is only one poll, but nevertheless it's good to see that (after all our misgivings) this thing might actually receive the recognition it deserves. Can't wait 'til Wednesday! |

The link still works!
Apparently the Godfather is number one. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is 55. See the rest for yourself.

LOTR-FOTR is #2 as of today.
It should easily be #1 before TTT comes out.

Money-grossing-wise I believe "Titanic" is number one, and it's been out since 1997, but LOTR: FOTR (being it has only been out since December) has already sweeped into the top 20. I find that interesting

I wonder how many people voted blindly for LOTR before they even saw the movie. I think more people like the movie either because of the Hollywood hype or because of their love of the books - or maybe both, rather than the movie trying to stand on it's own.
LOTR also has a bigger following than the othe movies it's beating out, but that doesn't make it better - it just means that more people bothered to vote for LOTR.

Don't say that, Jersey Devil, you're ruining the moment! No, j/k. You're probably right.

It was #1 for a couple of weeks when it had a rating of 9.7, but as more people voted it decreased to 9.0 and #2
