Sir Edmund Hillary, Requiem Aeternam
One of the best guys ever passed away today, people.
After writing an essay on him, Hillary actually became one of my heroes. Sir Edmund, that is. http://travel.latimes.com/articles/l...y-dies-11jan08

A great loss to New Zealand, and the world. He was a world class act. RIP, Hillary.

Hillary was a great adventurer and a philantropist. He will be missed.
Nautipus, the link will work if you copy and paste it.

That's a loss. He was a decent guy. He was at one point a bee keeper, no?

How about "Anyone who can climb Mt Everest is alright by me"?
And let's not forget Tenzing Norgay http://teacher.scholastic.com/activi...ive/norgay.htm

They had an exhibit on at the museum about the everest climb, and one of the things you could do was carry a backpack, that weighed the same amount as the one that he wore when he climbed Everest, across a ladder over a 'chasm'. MAN, was it heavy!! >.<

Along related lines, and since no one else is saying it, Goodbye, Heath Ledger. I had no particular like for his acting or movies, but his star was in ascendancy, and I was expecting him to be a major figure in filmdom for ten years or more. So tragic for his life to be cut short at 28.
