Was he a member of a communist party? Did he support communism as a socio-political system?
'Do you think he was a communist' is a bit of an odd question. Either some is a communist, or they're not (or they are and are lying about it). It would be interesting to hear why, exactly, you feel the need to ask this question.

Che? bah he's over-rated, there were such better "communists" than that pretty boy... ohh well he has gone beyond ideals to just being some romantacised character, the amount of people who walk around with their little Che badges on these days is quite odd.

He was good in 'Evita'.
Or was that David Essex? I always get them mixed up.

Agreed. Not only that, but he was a decent man. He fought-and died-trying to make what he thought as wrongs right. I have tremendous about of respect for him.

Everything I've discovered about Che Guevara directs me to the same conclusion - that the man was always the means to an end, and not an end in itself. He is to be remembered more for his uses than his beliefs, though a lot of people seem to forget this. In other words, where he stood ideologically was irrelevant. It's just that South American communists, who favoured revolution and sudden upheaval as a mode of change, were in sore need of mercenaries. And Che was a damn good mercenary.
In other words, I'll go see The Motorcycle Diaries and get back to you on the question.
