Band Aid

What does everyone think of the new song compared to the old one?

I haven't heard either, but IIRC the only reason the first song was popular is because it was for charity. That's as good a reason as any IMO.

Yes, there are 20 artists involved IIRC. They're all popular pop-artists and I didn't recognise anyone. But I also didn't watch the whole program that was talking about it.

The new one, cannot beat the original. Even though it's for charity, I don't like the new one that much. It would have been alot better, if they did something new.

The original has a dreamy "step into the time machine" 80's sound. It's a another time, another place.....

I agree. The new one I heard had a part rapping in it, I don't think it fits in. The original one gets my vote.

I think the old version is better than the new.
But the new is ok too.

They should have wrote a new song. Whenever I listen to 'Do they know it's Christmas?' I always think of the 80's (And Paul Weller in particular.... for some reason). It's the Band Aid song of the 80's, so why copy it? Why not write a totally different song that says 'this is the Band Aid song of 2004..'?

I like the old version better than the new one.

Bono doesn`t sing as good as in the 84 version.
