Video camera's
Does anyone know where I could locate the best video camera/camcorder and editing software for the best deal? I have been researching various types and designs. THanks. If there's another thread on this please direct me to it.

I would look on cnet.com they have listings of the best deals. You can compare different brands and all that. just go to http://www.cnet.com

i did a lot of research a few years back and bought my video camera at www.buydig.com good pricing and warranty (in the US, at least)... they may call you and try to get you to buy additional stuff (avoid the "executive kits", the stuff they give you is either uneeded or cheaper purchased elsewhere), but they will also take no for an answer (unlike many online vendors)
if i was buying one today i'd probably get canon at the moment it comes with a coupon for a free copy of Pinnacle 8 SE, which is good starter software for video editing... be sure to read all the fine print on the coupon however for date of purchase and stuff note that this is a mini-dv camera that transmits data to the pc via a "firewire" port (or IEEE 1394)... if your pc is fairly new, you may have one... if not, cards can be purchased fairly cheap

I purchased a Sony DCR-TRV19 mini-DV handycam from www.neutronexpress.com a few months ago. No complaints whatsoever.
I was close to purchasing a Canon in the same price bracket, but found after reviewing customer feedback that the performance in poorly lit conditions was below par. |
