A Question of Clean Sidewalks.
What's your opinion of dogowners letting their dogs do their business on the sidewalk and said owners not picking up the stuff afterwards?
In the part of the town where I live, it's constant hazard, if you don't watch you step you might find yourself with smelly crap stuck to your shoes. |

There aren't any sidewalks where I live, so this isn't a problem.
However, I think it's fair enough that the person walking the dog is responsible for cleaning up after the dog, especially if they're "doing their business" right on the sidewalk. Ew.

I don't live in town so all the dogs around here go in their owner's yard. I don't think it's a problem in town either, cause i've never seen any dog doo on the sidewalks. But something that is very annoying is when people walk their dogs on school property and don't pick it up and then when your running around the field you step in it,slip and for he rest of the day you have dog dookie on you.
When people walk thier dogs in public places they should pick up after them.

I haven't stepped in dog poop for several years, possibly over a decade.
It seems like less ppl have dogs now, and most places have leash laws now. When I was a kid, there were more dog owners, and dogs were allowed to run free. I had to clean dog poop off my shoes a few times a week. Fortunately, I never stepped in dog poop barefoot, and I never slipped and fell into it. |

It's not a big problem on the sidewalks here, but it's really bad in our parks, playgrounds, and school grounds. People let their dog do their business in the grass so they think people won't see it. I've actually SEEN a person letting their dog do it! I came to school a bit earlier that morning, and I saw a woman letting her dog pee on one of our soccer nets. I'm not sure if there's a law about letting a dog "do business" on school or other property, but if there isn't, there should be, and if there is, it's not a very well-followed law. I mean, LETTING a dog do that on school property is very bad, because I don't people are allowed to be on school property during school ours if they are not students or teachers.

A lot of places have laws against letting your dog go anywhere besides your private property without cleaning up after them. After all, it is pretty gross to deal with someone else's dog poop in your own lawn.

thats a good law! but im guessing dog owners arent too happy about walking around with a shovel everywhere they go. i know i wouldnt be too happy.
see.... this is why i take my dog to the bathroom BEFORE she and i go on a walk.

we dont have any sidewalks either except around the school and the center
i think tho if a dog does his buisness on public property..it should be picked up

In Sweden one can buy special little black plastic bags in which to take care of the dogpoo and then we have waste baskets in which to deposit the filled bag, but even filled bags aren't being deposited in the right places sometimes.

*is happy to see Coney back*
I posted a long time ago in the vent thread about dogs. Luckily I now live in an area where people seem to be more considerate. It even bothers me when I'm sitting in the back yard and the smell of it wafts over from the next yard. |
