That sucks Midge. How about this to make up for it: you get free hot chocolate at the Teacup Cafe for life. Now does that beat the Bush administration's monetary policy or what?

Relatedly, the BC government is going to hand out a "climate change dividend" of $100. This coincides with their carbon tax on gasoline (and diesel, I presume) of 2.4 cents per litre. I think they're just trying to make BCers less mad about the carbon tax.

Personally, I don't care about the carbon tax. I don't think it will be much of a deterrent, but at least it will provide additional revenue just when government programs could use a little extra dough, such as education and healthcare. Maybe they will overhaul the Ministry of Children and Families, which I feel has inadequate infrastructure and resources to help our most needful children. Or maybe it will go into clean energy projects or something.

But I am looking forward to the $100. I'm going to put it toward a new pair of hiking boots. My current pair have been demoted to work boots due to the copious amounts of duct tape on the heels.
