One of my grandmothers is named Grietje, but she hated it so much that she had it changed to Margriet and then my parents go and give me the same name...
To answer your question Hector: Grietje is originally a normal name in some parts of the country, but it is often used as meaning "some girl", "girlie", and can have a negative connotation. The English version would probably be "lass".
