a question about elf ears
I don't remember ever reading in any books (well, I've only read lotr and barely started the Silmarillion) that elves have pointy ears. Where does it say this? Not that I don't always think of elves as having them, and I know I would be sad and confused if they didn't (), but I was just wondering if the elves-have-pointy-ears thing came from Tolkien himself or just leftover from out preconceptions of elves.
