Laptops... you can't live with em, you can't live without em

I have 2 things:
1) In the train there was a high whiny noise that apparently only I could hear. I asked some people but nobody heard it! I'm really losing it... @_@ And it gave me a headache. >_<
2) On the same trip I met one of my former classmates who is now attending artschool, majoring in singing. She wants to become a popstar or something. Anyway, we got talking about the differences of singing in a choir and singing "solo" with band and stuff. Then she said that every choir would be good if you'd just throw a few good solists together! I tried to tell her that it isn't that easy, but she wouldn't listen and was really disdainful of choirperformances and of the accomplishments of people in a choir ("You don't have to be able to sing, because the people around will cover for you" blablabla).
She quite managed to get me off my happy standard. I'll never ever discuss this with her again, that's for sure! I don't like getting so upset over the ignorance of one person...
(still, it was nice meeting her again and otherwise our conversation was nice )
