Constitutional Convention of Entmoot
The time has come, Comrades, to shine forth with brilliance over all of the other message boards. It is here, ladies, gentlemen, comrades and friends, that I, trolls' bane, that we, Entmooters like you and I, will debate and decide upon those articles that will appear in the Declaration of Principles and Constitution of the Free Socialist Empire of Entmoot. Though I have much of it written out in my head, and will post it as I figure it out, in a form that I feel is fair and just and in agreement with our united ideology, it is your national duty to help me shape it in a form which you think will best serve the interests of Entmooters everywhere.
I have provided the Preamble, which, thus far, is the only completed part of the constitution. The next part, which will skip to the end, will display the (Insert final number here) Commandments, the colloquism of the Entmoot Bill of Rights.
Quote:
PREAMBLE
When in the course of events of Men, Women, Elves, Ents, Hobbits, Martians, Vulcans, etcetera, etcetera, it becomes clear the need to peacably or otherwise overthrow an old order and reorganize and restructure it into a new one, and to assume among the Powers of the Universe, a united and equal station the Laws of Nature, Physics and of Nature and Physics' God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of Mooterkind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Reorganization.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all accounts are registered equal, that they are endowed by their Ben with certain unalienable Rights and Commandments, which it is the purpose of this document to bring forth into light. That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituting among Mooters, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Goverend, that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all Experience hath shewn, that Mooterkind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the Forms to which they are accustomed.
We the constituent members of the United Socialist Empire of Entmoot, in order to form a more perfect Forum, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves, and our Prosperity, do ordain and establish this constitution for a greater Entmoot, under Ben. In doing so, it is our hope to establish a non-theocratic government of a democratic, quasi-socialist nature. We below soldify the place of Entmoot in the Universe.
We, the Entmootian people, acting through our duly elected representatives in the Entmoot Government, do proclaim that sovereign power resides with the people and do firmly establish this Constitution. Government is a sacred trust of the people, the authority for which is derived from the people, the powers of which are exercised by the representatives of the people, and the benefits of which are enjoyed by the people. This is a universal principle of mankind upon which this Constitution is founded. We reject and revoke all constitutions, laws, ordinances, and rescripts in conflict herewith.
We, the Entmootian people, desire peace for all time and are deeply conscious of the high ideals controlling human (or otherwise) relationship, and we have determined to preserve our security and existence, trusting in the justice and faith of the peace-loving peoples of the world. We desire to occupy an honored place in an international society striving for the preservation of peace, and the banishment of tyranny and slavery, oppression and intolerance for all time from the earth. We recognize that all peoples of the world have the right to live in peace, free from fear and want.
We stand by our ultimate goal, to bring the Universe into unity.
In addition to this declaration, the Conventions of a number of Mooters, having before the time of their adopting of this Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extednging to the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of this institution.
A spectre is haunting the world. The spectre of Entmoot. We stand united in our declaration.
ENTMOOTERS OF ALL COUNTRIES, UNITE!
