And we actually see less conflict and suffering now then we did in ancient times. But I do think your condemnation of western society and its ideals has some real merit. We are way too materialistic and we have unhealthy shallow obsessions. Technology has allowed us to focus primarily on pleasure and maximizing how much we own.
