You're answers so far are all correct.

With the cake problem though...remember that for the upper (top of each layer) surface area you only need to calculate one thing - the upper area of the biggest tier. Imagine looking at the cake from directly above. You see all of the top layer, a ring of the second, a ring of the third, etc. If you smushed it all it would be a single layer equal to the bottom.

If you understood that it makes it easier.
