Well, now that I've followed your discussion to the very end, I guess there's enough said bout that whole weed & mushrooms thing. I agree with both Pailan and bropous (you frenchie,you!); let's not get overexcited over something completely harmless and innocent.

BTW, this is not the only time Tolkien has been mistaken or willingly misinterpreted:
Back in the 1980s, there was a german journalist for whom it was totally clear Tolkien was a Nazi!
For him, LOTR was only a black and white painted racist manifest! I couldn't believe it...
