well.... in answer to the original topic.... i feel that i am much more composed online than in person. (i also talk on AOL Instant Messenger and ICQ, so this counts for both of those.) i think it's just that my thoughts move pretty fast, and having to articulate them outloud is more difficult than online. i'm probably not proving my point very well, though, because that last sentence didn't seem to make much sense.... but.... since i'm a psyc. major, i'll say this much:

Our brains are divided into left and right hemispheres. Left=logical, mathematical, etc. and also is responsible for speach
Right=creative, intuitive and also is responsible for verbal abilities

Now I see myself as a very right-brained person. I am not good at math, although I guess I'm fairly analytical. I'm good at writing essays, grammar, spelling and verbal things that are generally associated with the right brain. However, I think since speach is on the left side, I find it harder to articulate in person.

In addition, speech is just more spontaneous and you have less time to formulate your thoughts into something cohesive.

At least that's my theory.......
