Re: LOTR poll!

Come now webwizard, no cheating! Noone has any bad things to say about the blessed paradise, land of the Valar, but you'll have to settle for a Middle-earthian second-best

I suppose (since everyone else is) I ought to give my piece:

I'm assuming this is only for Third Age stuff, as far as fav. Middle-earth place and characters go, particularly as seen in the Lord of the Rings.

1) Name/Alias
My real name is Dylan Standlea. I like 'Falmaion', which is what my first is in Quenya, based on etymology. It means Son of the Wave.

2) Age
15

3) Location
Southern California

4) Favourite Book
The Ring Sets Out

5) Favourite Main Character
Saruman. Saruman is a very sad character for me. He was of such a high order and he fell so far, it's very sad. Some are amused when 'he got his' in the end. All well and good, but I always feel pity for him. I always vainly root for him in the Voice of Saruman - to repent, to cast down his staff of pride and accept the chance given to him. He was too far gone though, too afraid and foolish - and too bound by that terrible menace through the Stone.

6) Favourite Minor Character
Fredegar Bolger! Don't ask me who he is, others have paid for that! You might ask me why I choose him though. I don't know. I just really like him.

7) Favourite M.e. place
I think I've said in the past the part of the Lord of the Rings that moves me the most is the time spent by 'the Hobbits' (as those four are commonly called) in the house of Tom Bombadil. It's such a nice, peaceful, wonderful place. The Master and the River-daughter, fair Goldberry and the merry fellow. They and their home are absolutely enchanting.

8 ) Favourite Weap./Device etc.
If the intention of 'device' can be twisted to mean 'emblem' (or emblems) I really like Durin's seen on the West-gate of Moria. Otherwise I don't really have one. I'm rather obsessed with Durin.
