Let me begin by first saying that I utterly enjoyed The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy on screen. Basically, I was just wondering what you all thought of it. (That is, of course, if 'you all' thought anything of it at all.) I'm always interested in others' opinions.
My favourite aspects were: (1)Marvin. Alan Rickman's voice was smack-dab perfect for my favourite pessimistic robot. And Davis' endurance for carrying that costume around is worth noting as well. (2)The fact that much of the dialogue came verbatum from Douglas' work. I love the fact that they didn't change loads of it. Of course, this is because Douglas helped to adapt his work for the screen. Still and all, I was afeared, much afeared, that it would be changed. (3)The original Marvin's cameo appearance. You could tell who all the nerds were, because we all squee'd when he was one screen, of course that lasted about point for seconds, but still. (4)The visual effects. Amazing. Absolutely beautiful. And I think that the fact that the Vogons were puppets and were really there, interacting with the actors made it better than a bunch of CG aliens, but that's my opinion. Anyway, I'll stop my bit of the discussion there for now. Anybody else see it? Like it? Hate it? Eh? |
