At least he managed to thank Tolkien the second time round. I should hope so too!

I was quite pleased that LotR won the best director and best pic nods. I know it's beyond hope with all the Ron Howard/Beautiful Mind hype, but I wish to the Valar that LotR wins Academy Awards for best Picture and Best Director. I'm still hoping that the Academy is full of secret EIDRIORCQWSDAKLMEDDCWWTIWOATTOPWFIO's.

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless." Hmmm....the Drudge Report is noting that "A Beautiful Mind" is fast losing Academy voters because of some controversy regarding the person the movie was based upon. "Mind" is now considered the "Gary Condit of Movies" due to historical inaccuracies and Russell Crowe's actionas at BAFTA.
Looks like LotR's chances are increasing by the day for real Oscar gold....

I watched it but didn't really pay attention to him - I think he's a good actor but not really interested in what he says / does outside films. |

Crowe cussed out and threatened to punch out the producer of the BAFTA Awards show behind the scenes. He was ticked that a poem he recited when he received his award was edited out from the TV broadcast. The story is at www.drudgereport.com .
Crowe is taking a lot of heat for getting so unruly, and "Mind" is fast losing votes....and it is really the only other serious contender for Director and Best Film.

If the Academy have any sense (don't make a joke about that), they would judge Russell Crowe for his performance on screen, not his behaviour off-screen.

He is also a womaniser, he has a new woman on his arm every time he goes out.
"I would be worried about me if I was my mother" -Russell Crowe. You see?
