Beautiful! Very awesome, trolls' bane; I really enjoyed checking these photos out, and your little blurbs to go with them, too. By "Living Desert" you do mean Joshua Tree, right? God i love Joshua Tree so, so, so much.
That skink is bloody enormous, for a skink, by the way... Bloody effin' enormous! Nuclear Skink.

Thank you.

No. By Living Desert I mean the wildlife and botanical park I volunteer at. (Have you forgotten? )

Haha! I think Fred's some type of Australian skink.

By the way, Nerdy, that picture of yours of that stream looks absolutely smashing as desktop image.

Peacock Butterfly (Inachis io) faaast becoming my favourite butterfly since they're docile, accomodating and so goddamn beautiful. *happy sigh*

Comma Butterfly (Polygonia c-album) Another favourite, has an absolute hilarious, yet fitting name in Dutch

Edible frog (Rana eculenta) A very special character this, not just because of his rather unusual marbled colouring, but also because this is our Resident Garden Frog which has been seen in our garden for at least two successive years (an achievement of which we are very proud) and which even survived being dragged in by the cat.

Glad to hear that, Eärniel!

And those are some great photos, once again.. Thanks for sharing!

Here are some photos from my grandparents' summer cottage where I spent a couple of days with only myself around.. Luxury.

No electricity, no running water - peaceful.

You're lucky to have such a lovely place to go to, and not just for the photo opportunities.

What a beautiful place, seems like the kind of place I'll want to go to live someday. To leave the concrete jungle behind....ahhhh.

absolutely: the photography is merely a bonus. sometimes i don't take my camera with me just to be sure i don't focus on it too much, and can just enjoy the moment (naturally, my phone is off).

it's nice to have memories from there, though.

I found the best vacations to be the ones where you don't take a camera, but of course I always regret not taking one in the end, but it's all good.

That cat looks like it's nicked your PIN and is scamming your bank account.

These a beautiful, as always, Nerdy! I have a comment, which occured to me when I looked at the sunrise one; I wonder what you think.

The sky in that photo is SO beautiful. You've got the clouds lighting up with sun coming through sideways and you've really captured that depth and layering of colours. I found I wanted the tree to move out of the way a bit.

*laughs* might well be.. that can also explain the lack of money in my account. i guess she went and got herself some crisps and chocolate, she loves that. (strange cat)

and thanks for the comment! i always love some constructive critique/suggestions.
i agree, the tree could've been a bit less dominating - at least i could've tried to place the sun in the centre of that gap in the branches. taking the photo from a lower angle might also have helped.

Nice photos, G_W! Seems you've seen some nice places this year.

Here are a few photos from this afternoon: it's a direct effect of me having the song Cows With Guns (http://youtube.com/watch?v=IkHCDkYkYnk) stuck in my head all day.

The cow has something to say..

.. but does look very peaceful in the last rays of the evening sun.

*sings* We will fight for bovine freedom/and hold our large heads high/We will run free with the buffalo/or die

And the Branta leucopsis taking an evening walk..

The cows are nice, but the geese walking, with that sun in the background...that is a really good pic.
