Middle-earth map
So, I'm doing a cartography course through work and for one of the assignments, we've been asked to do a topographic/oceanic map of an imaginary area, so I decided to do middle-earth.
(I had to digitise everything and I'm well aware that the scale is complete nonsense)... what do you think? |

I think the geography went completely bunkers , but it looks quite cool. It looks like you've got all the possible elements you can encounter on a map.

Gauging distances
Has anyone worked out the actual distances of the ring-bearer's route?

I seem to remember it being around 1000 miles from Hobbiton to Mordor (maybe a bit more). And, during some of the quick-moving stretches (i.e. Bree to Rivendell), they averaged 18-20 miles a day, on foot.

Nice, but hardly inspires confidence that they think you pass through Moria on the way from Lorien to Rauros...

I don't get it- is this supposed to be at the beginning of the Fourth Age i.e. end of LOTR, or later on?
