Good work, TB!
Dear Hector, Really, what is cool about the opera? Coming from a wussy choral background I like the seriousness and also the, erm, funness of choirs, but Lieder to be weird and foreign. When I understand them, or they are in English, they still tend to be werid. (See: 'Wee Willy Winky', Richard Rodney Bennett). How does the opera differ from Lieder? Is it not just longer and with a narritive? Yours in blissful ignorance, Janny PS: What's the deal with the breastplate and Viking hat?

Dear Hector,
Are you dead? Or has the drudgery of this thread Gone to your head? How do you rate my enjambment? should I feel bad about not being able to find a rhyme for enjambment and thus allowing my poor ditty to fade to nitty. Or nothing. With many posh affectations, Janny TB, of course I know nothing of the scam you are pulling on Hector. Opps. Well, break me in on $0.47 USD and I'll bnever mention it again!

Lieder is a form (except with Mahler) composed with specific ideas in mind, whereas opera is composed recklessly and passionately. I too am a choral aficiando, and what you may not knwo is that opera contains some of the finest chorals and choruses. You'd know what I meant if you ever heard Verdi's "Rigoletto". BTW, RRB's " The Mines of Sulpher" is very strange indeed! I have to agree with you there...

Dear Hector,
I have problems distinguishing different kinds of trees from quite a far way away. Such as, the larch. Who knows what a larch looks like? Really! It's just ridiculous! Also, what is the meaning of life? ~Durin's Bane P.S. The first is more important. I just threw in that last one on a whim. Thanks.

Dear Readers,
I've found a very interesting find indeed. I was reading through a certain magazine called "Rich Forever", which is obviously exclusively for rich people. The advice columnist for the magazine was a delight to read, and so I share it with you... Dear Barbara, My poodle is a thoroughbred (God forbid anything less!) I have had in my possession for forty years and counting. Last night, alas! his toenail fell off. I nearly fainted, for I have a weak stomach. The veterinarian said that in a proximity of about two months, the toenail should grow back. Is he lying? ~Completely Flabbergasted Dear Completely, Of course he is lying. He is trying to extract a certain sum from you by pretending the toenail is not an occasion to fret about. In the end, he will charge you an insurmountable sum for which you may have to sue him for. I recommend a certain J. Adam Ghallagin as your lawyer. Fill out all the paperwork he gives you and do everything he asks you to, or else your finances are ruined forever.

anyway, back to letters....
Dear Hector, Why didn't I know that Hector Berlioz was a famous composer until I watched an episode of TNG? Does this mean I'm slipping? Am I losing all the mental prowess I've so long been confident of? Should the nice men in white take me away now? Aaaaaaarg! It's frustrating, not knowing these things... ~Me P.S. You have yet to bestow upon us mere mortals the meaning of life, mate...and if you say opera...

Dear Hector,
I am a Huorn and would like a take up a musical instrument again. I played the violin as a sapling. Now I am too big to play the instrument and my branches too rough. I also had a pink bicyle which as of yesterday, busted out from under me. I would like to find another mode of transportation. Do you have any recommendations? signed Oakie

Dear Hector, I find it disturbing that a Huorn would play musical instruments made of wood. Is it just me, or do you also think said Huorn should be put into tree-jail for being a tad psycho?

This Huorn is rather rambunctious, and allowances must be made. I do agree she is a tad psycho... Quote:
Perhaps you should take up the Harp, which besides being a beautiful instrument, is easily played by simply blowing in the wind. Very regrettably, your bicycle "busted", and now you have a dilemma, how to get around? Simply this, walk! Good Luck Quote:
It's really not your fault about knowing whether or not Berlioz was a composer or just a regualr man's name, but I reprimand you nevertheless. If you had been smart, and been reading my Classical Music threads, you may have know the truth a much better way. ps: I do not seek to tell you the meaning of life, only to interest you in Opera...
