There just aren't enough butterflies here anymore to attempt such photos. *sigh*
Very nice photos, TB.

Yes, thank you trolls' bane, for such a lovely set of photographs. We've been waiting with baited moot-breath for a while for some nice photos from you; it was worth the wait. Gorgeous!

Thank you all! Those are my best, most of the others didn't come out...But I DID notice that if there was a mechanical problem (i.e. the shutter not opening all the way or something) with any of my pictues, it involved my other SLR (my Pentax), or a problem with focusing on either one.
Earniel: I don't know whether it's the case over there, but I beleive Monarch butterflies will still migrate just as they do over here. They just SWARM south over a period of about a week, then about two weeks worth of stragglers or lingerers, then nothing (because the stragglers and lingerers probably died, because though Monarchs live the longest, they only live long enough to migrate and reproduce, and LA is far too cold or hot). Monarchs are indigenous to North America (mainly ranging from Canada, particularly southern British Columbia, the Western states, and Mexico. Of course, I mentioned the migration because I'm sure someone introduced the monarchs to Europe! Lotesse, thank you a lot! I'm glad it was worth the wait. I have a few more, but most of my pics didn't come out. I'm also havign trouble uploading these. More will be on the way soon; hopefully next time I'll be prepared for all the BS Wally World gave me. I forget, do you have an SLR? I know, I'll take a picture (with the digital, of course!) of the accessories I used to take those SLR pictures. You can get them only for Minolta Maxxum that I know of, but I'm sure that most camera models of any brand sell them, provided they're SLR. I'll search online first. I usually simply call them "Macro Extension Tubes," which is basically what they are.

I hope your camera gets fixed soon TB! My Mom used to have an awesome Nikon SLR, but it wore out after about 20 years. Now she has a great digital camera which she loves.
Great pics too! I really liked "Dinosaur (raptor?) skeleton" and your wonderful butterfly closeups.

If you mean the Pentax, I'm not using it anymore. At least not for most things. Thank you! I wish I could afford a digital camera, but people who I meet just can't understand why I won't get one. What they fail to understand is that I can't afford a camera like the one I have. They are usually people from my school (of course) who don't know what an SLR is (of course) even if they have one. The people in the Photo class don't even know! I feel special. *should get robe and a big, red tome and take place as Public Junior Wise Man No. 1*

(This pic is actually bigger than the camera itself in RL. ) My dad has a more professional digital one, which I might borrow if I find him in a good mood; and a really professional non-digital one, which he wouldn't give to me, but I wouldn't even know how to use it anyway...

Aah, Corsica, a beautiful place. I've got reams of pictures from there, but I don't think I've got such nice sunsets on the sea.

GW, those pictures are incredible! Wow! I love sailing!

Yeah, I don't ever remember seeing monarchs migrating until this last year. This last year must have been a good year for 'em, because I'd never seen so many butterflies, nor anything for that matter. I particularly remember all of the people at the rest stop scrubbing and cleaning off their cars...

Yes, I noticed that... As the sun sinks down and then finally disappears.
Aaah! All these sea-pics... You'll get sea pics from me in return, in August. Gonna spend two weeks in Croatia - yay! Can't wait.
