He brought it back to Thorin
Then, later, all alone He snuck back up the passageway, And swiped the Arkenstone, Oh-- Smaug, the magic dragon Lived by the Lake And froliced in his darksome cave Like a mallard drake! Smaug, the magic dragon Lived by the Lake And froliced in his darksome cave Like a mallard drake! (This is fun!! ) Last edited by ragamuffin92 : 02-17-2002 at 09:13 PM. |

LOL, nice avatar, ragamuffin!
Smaug, the magic dragon Blew his dragon fuse He flew out of that darksome cave A menace on the loose! Smaug, the fiery worm Burned the secret door He chased the dwarves inside the cave Where they huddled on the floor! Oh -- Smaug, the magic dragon Lived by the Lake And froliced in his darksome cave Like a mallard drake! Tolkien's probably rolling over in his grave . . .

Peter, Paul, and Mary are probably P-Oed, too, FrodoFriend. This song is turning out pretty GOOD! I'll try to come up with another verse later today, between church and the Super Bowl. Keep up the good work.

Smaug the Golden
Once cunning and sly Pissed off the Dale folk And was doomed to die. Curled up in his cave He grew greedy and vain 'Till Bard's black arrow Split his heart in twain. He was so beautiful And so very cool I wish he could live Instead of rot in the pool. But despite his beauty He really was very mean And we're all better off Now his end we have seen. Still I must sigh And wish just this once He'd been a little more careful The dragon-headed dunce!

I like the one ya'all did to the tune of puff better, but what can I say? It was late, I'd been on the computer all day long, and at that point any kind of silliness is bound to pop out of my head. Thanks for being kind about my drivel. I did like the rot in the pool bit, i tell ya, it was absolutely hysterical to me at 3 in the morning , it makes Smaug sound a bit like an aging rock star.
But I gots to say, my fav line of puff parody is Frodofriend's "blew his dragon fuse" !

The poem is rather good. I like the song better. It is hard to compete with anything to the tune of puff the magic dragon.

Smaug . . . what an unlikely inspiration for song and poetry.
Smaug the giant wyrm Made little Bilbo squirm Despite fear he'd be A shish-kabob wee Bravely the Hobbit stood firm!

Do you think Smaug (sounds like smug) really believed Bilbo about his Achilles heel, er, missing scale? Tolkien's characters that were proud and full of themselves usually met a bad end.

Yeah, pride and possessiveness (of which Smaug had plenty) seem to be Tolkien's main beefs (or is it "beeves"?).
And Real_Legolas, all the thread title says is "Smaug???". And we are certainly talking about Smaug. What's wrong with answering questions in song form? Smaug, the magic dragon Sported a soft spot On his shiny belly And that's where he got shot! Oh --

Oh--
Smaug the foolish dragon, splashed in the lake punctured by an arrow, but hey, those are the breaks!
