Just had a conference with my professor for Childbirth and Women's writing. Nice lady, but overly fond of a particular type of essay writing. She really likes essays where we introduce a paradox and then form our thesis as a conclusion/solution to said paradox. This is all very well and good, except I keep getting tangled in the paradox. The result, she said my writing is gorgeous but the paradox and thesis don't quite relate to eachother. Talk about a backhanded compliment...
*sigh* Time to pull out the pen and paper and start from scratch. On that note... Does anyone know of a good analysis of Galway Kinnell's poem "Little Sleep's Head Sprouting Hair in the Moonlight"? Hello to you too Pytt.

Anybody want a smoked turkey and coleslaw sandwich on wheatberry bread, with a triple caramel macchiato and New Zealand artesian spring water? *takes sandwich outside to Teacup SkyBar deck, and settles down in big comfy deckchair to eat lunch*
Yummy! After lunch, I think I'll take a dip in the pool, then come back inside the Teacup for an evening nightcap.

Indeed, we do. When I set about to do that big post-war remodel job here at the Teacup, I decided to build a deck area with a pool and hot tub. Stole the design from the Mondrian Hotel's famous SkyBar in West Hollywood, which is an awesome bar BTW if you're ever in Hollywood you should try and check it out. Very expensive place though, and trendy - always full of young celebrities and whatever. It used to be you'd have to either be a guest staying at the hotel and/or invited - i.e., on the waiting list, to get into the SkyBar. I don't know if they've calmed down a bit yet, or whatever, but it doesn't matter anyway because I stole the SkyBar and set it up right here at the Teacup Cafe. You have to be a registered Mooter to get in.

Hey Lotesse! If you log off while I'm posting this, I'll turn you into a pile of dust!
Wow, I'm super-violently cheerful today.

Super-violently cheerful is the BOMB!! How've you been, trolls' bane?
I was just reviewing the entmooter picture linx thread and it occurs to me, perhaps to put a photo up, but I'm quite shy about it still since I've spoken a few times online here about the *ducks head conspiratorily, eyes dart back and forth, lowers voice* criminal activities I've been involved with which I still get paranoid about getting found out about... for real, though. Maybe I will, though, in a little while when I am moved into my new house and the computer's set up again, I'm thinking I'll put one in black-and-white, from before I cut my hair. Like that'll throw off the FBI. Who am I kidding. anyway... *slinks away*

Come on, like I'm using an IP address that has ANYthing to do with my true name or an actual home address! One step ahead, man; one step ahead.
And NOW, would you believe it, again I must log off. Freakin' library computers, grrrrrrr...

True...Skip around libraries! Besides, I've done illegal stuff, and they haven't come after me! I took Maren for a hike in an area where a sign specifically said "No Dogs Allowed."

The "No Dogs Allowed" areas are the best.
My dad and I were exploring some defunct bunkers once...that were technically off-limits, but you know how much that matters when things look really cool. Everytime I heard a helicopter pass overhead, I'd make sure that I was pretty hidden. It was like playing hide and seek, except so much more fun than when I was a little kid. |

I can understand your reticence, tho, so how 'bout doing a nice mysterious one, like with a hat pulled low and your hand kind of covering your mouth - a nice mysterious 50's-type pose? I adore hats, esp. ones with veils - so fun! I have about 10 or 12 of them still - I used to wear them in the 80's. I still have a few I wear today, but they're the cute nubbly type, not the kind with veils. I was kinda scared of posting a picture at first, because I'm so ancient compared to most of you lovely young Mooters, but we seem to see souls here, not wrinkles, so I did it. (also my hubby didn't trust you guys at first, but he finally felt OK about it) (I guess it's not you guys, tho, but the lurkers - but hey, whatever... I don't put up my address or phone number, or even the names of my kids)

Something you'd probably not do today...
Yeah, I was thinking: "Who's going to stop me, the dreaded Flood Control Basin Police?"

Oh Noes! Not the Dreaded Flood Control Basin Police!
For some reason my brain just tangented to the Dread Pirate Roberts and Princess Bride. I loved that movie as a kid, and still do. I'm still meaning to read the book. I started to read the first chapter in a book store, and I enjoyed the immediate difference from the film, but I didn't feel like buying it at the time because it would have been one more thing to stuff in my suitcase when I flew back to school in Sept. |
