huan, the hound, he was kind of sad, although i was always curious where all of the other talking dogs were, at least in narnia they have more than one talking dog

Yeah, I always wondered what happened to the giant dogs and cats. I guess the giant wolves became the Wargs or something...

But maybe that was an idea that didn't carry over into the final universe of LotR. Like the idea that "Beren was a gnome...".
