Where Are You (in the reading of LOTR)?

At the moment I've reached "The Taming of Smeagol". Frodo and Sam has just gotten down from the cliff after those hairy moments when Frodo took his spill and got back up on the cliff again with the help of Sam and the elven rope.

I'm starting to read them again. So I'm right at the Prologue.

last chapter of FOTR ... I started re-reading LOTR about 2 weeks before azalea started the LOTR project, so I'm a bit ahead.

Sam, Frodo and Smeagol have reached The Black Gate and it's closed. Smeagol tells them of another way which he knows of.

I hate to say it, but I've put LOTR's down in order to read the Sil. I've directed my full attention to it!

I'm at "Journey in the Dark". I always feel like I'm there, so I tend to stop before difficult journeys and unpleasantness. Like the company, I am hesitant to go into Moria. Is that weird?

Not really. You could skip ahead. But I suggest that you push through until you come to Lorien and so on. I don't really like the whole "Frodo, Sam & Gollum"-bit, but if you want to read the book you should read it all.

I know, I know. (I have already read the book, just so you know) A lot of times, I just feel like reading this chapter or that chapter, but I'm at Journey in the Dark in my reading all the way through, you know?

Actually, it was weird, at the beginning of TTT, when Aragorn and Legolas and Gimli are looking for Merry and Pippin, I literally tried to read faster because somewhere in the back of my head I thought it would help them go faster in the book. That was a little weird...

Well I'm about halfway through chapter 1. That could have something to do with the fact that I am attempting to read it in French and have just gotten stuck cos I only know about half the vocab. It's not that bad cos I can guess most of it from my knowledge of the story and Tolkien's turn of phrase, but it takes so bloody long! Oh well, you've gotta have a challenge.
