Was the Witch-King...?

Was the Witch King one of the corrupted Numenoreans?

At least three of them were corrupt Dúnedain, yes. I wouldn't be surprized if the Witch King was one of them. He was taller than the others, and the Númenoreans of the Second Age were very tall.

Also, his realm was in very close proximity to Arnor. If he had been a Southron, this would've been unlikely.

Mirahzi, you have to remember that the Kings and Sorcerors who became the Ringwraiths lived in the Second Age before Arnor. The Númenoreans among them would come from the southern coasts.

Christiana, if you were referring to me, I'll tell you that I'm not some kind of expert, there is a great deal of things I do not know. I've read some of the books many times [actually the Lord of the Rings is the only single story I've read through completely many times, but even that isn't true if you count the Appendices], but I am not among the great Tolkien scholars, not even close.

One would assume if he is the witch-king, Sauron might as well find a King of Men to do what he desires. But who knows for sure?

they were all kings... great kings of men...

I think that the Witch-King was a Numenorean, but most of the others were easterlings.

If you read carefully in the Appendixes, you will find passages the actually put a name to The Witch King of Arnor.

I beg your pardon, I am lapsing into old mistakes. The Witch King is not named. Only his second in command, Khamûl of Dol Guldur is named.....darn darn, and I looked so hard for that! (I still have a clear recollection of having found that dang name somewhere, and it's been oh, 10 years since I was that involved in researching the Nazgul...*sigh*)
