Question about Necromancer
Okay, so I'm just wondering who this guy is. All I really know about him is that Gandalf and the other Wizards drove him out of Mirkwood. But where did he come from? Who is he? Where did he go? IS he dead? anyone who can answer these questions will be reward with a genuine "thank you"

The necromancer is most likely Sauron. And he buggered off back to Mordor.

Hmm. Where did you guys figure that out? Some people seem to be disagreeing. And, SGH, I'm already confused. If he is Sauron, that's a big bummer for me.
And zavron, how could I nick your quote if I never met you before, online or otherwise?

I'm pretty sure that Gandalf tells either the council at Rivendell, or Frodo before he starts out on his journey that the Necromancer was Sauron...
Lefty, I'm assuming that those are some of Sauron's aliases? If my name meant "the abhorred", I'd pick a new one, too. Nariel, don't mind zavron. He's only trying to be irritating.

Yes, crick, those are some of Sauron's aka's. Annatar means "Lord of Gifts" - he tried to hoodwink the Elves with that one. But Elrond and Gil-galad weren't fooled, although many other Elves were, at first.
