Palantir clip from ROTK

Don't know if you've come accross this yet:

http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/l/lotrrotk.php

It's clip 5 by the way.

So, instead of using the scene to show Aragorn's will power withstanding that of Sauron's (like in the book), they've made even this scene another scary, action type sequence.

*sigh*

I thought it was an SUV.

All I can say is MORE OF THE SAME. Overblown action sequences as usual.

I couldn't get it to play. (And I really don't want to download RealPlayer. I already have Windows Media Player, DivX, and Winamp.)

Does anyone know another source for that?

well it analyses your system and sees what media players you have installed. It showed that I had both Real Player and Windows Media Player and allowed me to select which I wanted to use. It didn't do that for you?

Is that the extent of Aragorn's willpower with Sauron and the palantir?

The sound of hysterical laughter, that's me.

Yes. I selected Windows Media Player, which is the only one I have. Then it said "connecting to media" for about 10 minutes until I gave up and closed the window.

Ummm, Foolofatook? Again?

*imagines touch late night script writing session at NL*

Boyens: "Ya know, I just don't know what Gandalf should say in this scene?"

Jackson: "Well, what does the book say?"

Boyens: "Don't with that book business again!"

Jackson: "Just kidding, heh heh!"

Boyens: "How 'bout he says, 'Fool of a Took!', again?"

Jackson: "Whatever. I'll have the WETA boys juice it up so no one will even notice he's talking."

Boyens: "I still can't believe I got this huge a project the first go round. Writing is way easier than they made it sound in those correspondence courses I took."

So VERY true. I don't know what smilie should go here. On the one hand your scenario is funny in which case I would use , on the other it is probably closer to the truth than any of us would care to think, in which case I would use or possibly .

Yea! I got it to work. They really went to town on that Fool of a Took line. They also overdramatised the scene, naturally. In case you were wondering, they're in Minas Tirith because they took out the whole Orthanc story arc.

I'm glad you got it to work, I wasn't sure what else to suggest.

Yeah - I could tell they were in Minis Tirith with the wooden doors, I'm wondering if it's Denethor's Palantir that Pippin looks into and NOT Saruman's now. I like the Palantir scene in the middle of the woods as it is in the book.

They even seem to be using "horror" type music.

*Makes appropriate "ree ree" music from Psycho along with stabbing motions* Hello Pippin...

I also noticed the non-metal gates. Weren't they plated with mithril? That would have looked cool.

Edit: And I love that scene from the book too! They could have had a funny scene without taking cheap shots at Pippin or Gimli! What a novel idea. (Gandalf waking up with a rock for a pillow!)

I thought the doors and walls looked like they were back in Edoras, or at least somewhere in Rohan.

I'm pretty sure I've read spoilers that say Denethor doesn't have a Palantir. Who knows.

EDIT,

I just watched it again and I've changed my mind. I think it's Minas Tirith too.

Too much action there. For some reason this clip looks like a bad horror movie. Maybe it's the music.

If it is in Minas Tirith, what the heck was Merry doing there!

*panics* What if he doesn't swear fealty to Theoden and join up with Dernhelm!?
