deltora quest--should we accept it or not?
I have read a lot of deltora quest books, but to me they seem like just one big lotr and harry potter ripoff! the author uses many elements that tolkien and rowling use (ie: rowling's use of animals owned by the main characters; tolkien's idea of the dark lord having a "mark" (dq's shadow lord's mark and lotr's sauron's mark look similar) So should we accept emily rodda's deltora quest, or shut it out as a piece of stolen work well hidden?
sorry to the administrators/moderators of this forum if this topic has been made already

I think we should be open to them. I've read all but two of them, and they're good leisure reading, just something to read when your bored, you know? There are some elements that might seem stolen from other author's styles of writing, but if you think about it, there isn't anything really wrong with that. Tons of authors "borrow" from other styles. I have never seen anything wrong with it, so long as it isn't blatently obvious that the stuff has been borrowed. I think Emily Rodda has done a good job creating a lot of origional material as well, such as some of the creatures in Deltora. But yeah, there's my take on that.

No problem! I'm somewhat relieved that someone other than my family reads them!

If deltora quest rips off, so does half the shows on tv, go yell at sailor moon.

Astellian nobles don't exert themselves in any way, so they have no concept of human endurance. The serfs take advantage of that outrageously. Astellian serfs have been known to collapse from sheer exhauston at the very mention of such unpleasant words as 'reaping' or 'digging'." ----------------------------------------------- “They lost him?!” Lupin asked , amazed. “Voldemort has been after Harry for 15 years, and then he misplaces him?!” |

I think they're fine. I've read only one though.
