Just saw "Time Machine"

I don't know what I was expecting - but felt it was a waste of time and money. Saw the original way back when, at the time when special effects were in infancy and I can say I enjoyed the first version more. Maybe its because of the wealth of excellent movies that I've seen lately (notwithstanding 4 viewings of LotR ).
Anyhow, just thought I'd rant in case it's on someone's must see list.

Thanks for your opinion. My husband has been wanting to see it but I'm more ambivalent. We saw the trailer when we saw Fellowship and the special effects looked interesting. We may still go but I definitely won't be insisting on it like I did with Fellowship

I saw the previews and was quite flabbergasted (third time I've used that word today). I read the book a while ago, but I can still recall that there were no interactions mentioned between the Eloi and the Morlocks above ground, except attacks during the night. Also, the Morlocks were nasty little critters with bulging white eyes. The preview didn't reflect any of that. Instead, the Morlocks were more cat-like, aggressive hunters. And I heard it was bad. I don't think I'll see it, especially in the theater.

Is there already a topic on this? I'm not sure....anyways, I moved this from GM to the correct forum. The movie looks stupid.......The first half of the preview trailer looked cute, then it got really bad....... I'll see it when it comes to cable : p

And Nibs, you do realize that no one has any clue what you had just said (unless they read the book or whatever.)

I think he was assuming that people have read the book....I mean this isn't a message board centered around cars or something.

Gah. That movie makes me angry. I haven't seen it, but it's pretty obvious that it's a complete perversion of the book. You know when they make the Eloi talk that you've lost about half the book right there. The Time Machine is one of my favorite reads too . . .

The trailer looked good to me, too. That's why I went.

I just got back from seeing that movie. I thought it was ok. Not very good though. The special effects were really good though. It had a lot of unanswered questions in it and parts of it i didn't understand....

I just had to study the book for English GCSE and I really liked it. I seem to remember the original film was quite different, although it's a long time since I saw it, and I didn't have a clue what was going on at the time.

I completly enjoyed the film. i thought it was a good little romp and since I haven't read the book i had no expectations. I've made those two little stipulations for myself: 1)If I've read the book, I understand the movie will be nothing like the book, especially my favorite parts 2) I don't haev any expectations when going to see movie any more. I enjoy more movies that way.
I only have, to contradict myself, four "expectation" movies this year. Star Wars, Signs, Spiderman and, of course, LOTR.

Love thier music. It's very cool. They should be coming around my area on tour. I heard that thier concert is really just a long cartoon with the real band playing behind the backdrop. Do you know?

I really liked the movie. Parts of it I didn't understand, but that happens to me in lots of movies, lol. I never read the book though so I dont know how it compares to that.

My older brother made me watch it, and it was okay. The special effects were awesome, too . I haven't read the book, so those brown things (I can't remember what they're called) freaked me out a whole lot. My brother started cracking up when he saw the look on my face .
