A Pic! A Pic! A Very Important Pic!

Dang! I should have seen this coming! The folks who are making the LotR action figures decided the answer to whether or not the Balrogs have wings.

Go down to the bottom. Gandalf looks spiffy, though.

I have always believed that Balrogs have wings. However, I think this proves nothing. JUst b/c PJ and the CGI folk created a winged balrog in the movie and just because toy companies make figures looking like the movie Balrog, doesn't mean i actually has wings. PJ and them could've just randomly said, "its got wings."

Hmm... why did it get moved? Oh, well... mods know best, I guess...

No, it's not canon, but it's more evidence against those of us who swear they don't have wings.

As a sworn entmooter and current elven warrior, I felt it was my duty to bring forward any evidence supporting whichever side, even if it opposed my own view.

By the way, they're wrong, too. No wings. Nope, nope, nope. They're LYING.

Watch where you're pointing that goiter.

Gollum

It doesn't really matter to me whether they make him have wings or not. We'll never know for sure and that's that. But I have to admit, those wings kinda suit him....

I never said anything about TOLKIEN's vision of them or how they were in the books, I'm strictly talking about the one in the MOVIE. that lil action figure guy thingy proves that the one in the MOVIE had wings.

It was moved because it was in the wrong thread, this is the place to discuss topics relating to Peter Jackson Movie.

You have just contradicted yourself by agreeing its not canon, it is not evidence, its a interpretation of a character by a third-party company, making it 100% unofficial.

In your first post, you make a 'Victory' statement, seeming as if you were right all along about the inconclusive Balrog wings debate from the actual text, your second post states that you were refering to the Movie adaption of the Balrog, it has been no mystery that the Movie Balrog had wings or not since its first screening in the Cannes Movie Ceremony.

you can see the wings in the movie.

they are hard to see, but when he (he or a she?) moves them, it's pretty clear and they look quite nice.

Wait a second... do I see logic seeping into this thread? I'll have none of it!!

Oh, by the way, didn't I sound sarcastic enough when I was saying the "sworn entmooter" bit? I mean, come on... "sworn entmooter"? And "my duty"?? It's so ludicrous I refuse to address it further .

Anyway, I was just bringing it up... of course the products of a third party don't affect how it is portrayed in the books and even less how we think it is... we're still divided on that issue.

Gosh, it all started innocently enough... I just thought it was a pic that people would enjoy seeing.

I'm going to my room now.

Comic Book Guy- Eh? ohhh, well [lets just use another word from now on - CBG], my mistake then. See, the way alot of conversation was going it seemed to me that people didnt beleive the MOVIE balrog had wings but it was so blatently obvious that it DID have wings so thats what the little "victory" thingy was about, finally solid proof of it...I misunderstood and didnt realize the wings/no wings debate was entirly over the book versions. Oh well, whatever.

Luthien Tinuviel- I could have sworn I've already sent him a PM regaurding that.

oh yes! wings. uh huh. i thought that the wings were very nice

Regardless of whether or not I think Balrogs have wings, The one's on this toy are simply too small for it compared to those depicted on the movie. The figure's also too brightly colored IMO.

The Gandalf figure looks good.

And BTW, I guess its ok if Nibs stays in his room because his PC (or Mac, or whatever) seems to be in there.
