Creation vs. Evolution
Somebody mentioned that they beleived in evolution, and I've got a feeling that several of the rest of y'all do, so why not a debate?
My chalange to you (evolutionist) is this: show me one, just one bit of evidence that supports evolution (in all my study, I've come across one).

Boy Lurker, you don't dodge controversy, do you? You probably read my post recently which said that. I trust scientists, that's all, or I will believe evolution until a better theory comes along. I don't personally know of any more evidence which supports evolution than does a six-day creation. I say 'six-day~' and not simply 'creation' because I do not believe the world made itself. One may be religious and scientific.

There is the argument that the 'six days' does not refer to our run-of-the-mill 24 hour day, but six unspecified epochs of time, and not necessarily of the same lengths.
The Hindus say that a "Day of Brahma" is ...ummm.... I think 64 million years? So.... God creating life forms in a day of millions of years...... There is a phrase from a novel I've read ("the Left hand of darkness"): "Praise then creation unfinished!!" |

And I put it to you, Mr Lurker, to put forward one bit of evidence for Creation! Weaknesses in evolution are by no means automatic evidence for "creation theory".
Creation is a religious belief for which there is no evidence. Evolution isn't a belief as such - it's what the wealth of available evidence indicates. There are holes in evolution theory, granted, but there is still far more evidence for it than there is for creation. http://stardestroyer.net/Creationism/index.shtml **HEALTH WARNING** The website above may cause offence to easily-offended creationists (all Christians, in some sections). However, I question why you are in a debating thread if you are easily offended. |

Oh, as far as Biblical contradictions go check out
http://www.americanhumanist.org/religion/thebible.html The same health warning as for SD.net applies. P.S. moderators: please do not close this thread for no reason at all while making up a consensus that doesn't exist at all. Last edited by Darkside Spirit : 11-05-2001 at 06:30 AM. |

NO PROOF HA HA!!!!!!
what books have you read? only books that support your view? Books that straw man the evolutionary theory? first I wanna address the six days vs. ages comment. I find it "interesting" that if something in the bible doesn't make sense, the exoteric MIRACULOUSLY becomes esoteric or poetic. that is hermeneutic gloss over. no one ever thought that days was not a six day creation until evolution came about. over a millinieum and half 6 days was fine. then evolution rears it ugly head. OOPS maybe it means days as eons. there is a consilience knowledge that supports evolution independent data from geology, paleontology, botany, zoology, herpetology, entomology ( NOT THE STUDY OF ENTS ![]() biogeography, comparitive anatomy, physiology etc... geology shows that fossils are of different ages, paleontology shows that there is a fossil sequence that fossils change over time taxomony shows there is a biological relationship between species evolultion binds them together ( sort like the one ring) ![]() some people say that there are no transition fossils what about the archaeopteryx? first "we" said the the ape was between man an the lower animals "you" said show us a closer transition "we" gave you you neanderthal "you" show us a closet transition "we" gave you cro magnon it just's just like the energizer bunny.... they say that it goes again the 2nd law of thermodynamics what does that say: that energy must come from an outside source well there is something called THE SUN

Well, I said that some have argued the day-epoch thing..... yes, Christians did take "days" as the ordinary day.
So I mentioned the Hindu notion of "Day of Brahma" (millions of years), which predates Christianity...... there are other religions in which a day of God (or the gods) is an epoch, long before someone thought of evolution. BUt.... I'm just mucking around. I'm not even a Christian. Last edited by easterlinge : 11-05-2001 at 07:38 AM. |
