Re: qui gonn not disapearing
Simple-Yoda and Obi-wan were at peace and ready to die. Qui-gon, however, was not. Either than or the jedi heaven didn't want such a bad actor.

Re: qui gonn not disapearing
We had a very prolonged discussion about this at jedicouncil.net and came to the conclusion that it had to do with being ready to die, that you had to be at peace to become one with the Force. However, you can still be a blue see through guy even if you don't dissapear.

Re: qui gonn not disapearing
I think the reason ob1 and yoda disapeared is that they were still training there apprentices. When ob1 said if you strike me down i shall become more powerful than you can imagine, he meant he will become more powerful as a jedi master, and he did. when yoda died, he was still training luke. when qui gonn and vader died, they were not training anyone. qui gonn was done with ob1 and vader was just a regular jedi at the time of his death. anakin was not yet qui gonns apprentice.

Re: qui gonn not disapearing
On the issue of Qui-Gon's lack and vanishing in TPM after his death, I stumbled across something on the SW: Behind the Magic CD that might be of relevance. In the Scene by Scene for Return of the Jedi go to ROJ-24. Click to shot 2 of 4. Click on the question mark in the image that points to Obi-Wan. The caption reads as follows: "Ben's Ghostly Form: According to Lucas, not all Jedi are capable of retaining their identities after death. At some point between Episode III and Star Wars: A New Hope, Yoda taught Ben this powerful ability. As is evident from the conclusion of Return of the Jedi, Anakin Skywalker adopted the technique as well."

Re: qui gonn not disapearing
There's no conclusive proof yet to say who's right or who's wrong on this. It'll be explained in Ep II or III, but until then, people shouldn't automatically jump from hypothesis to undeniable conclusion. None of us knows if anyone (besides Lucas himself of course) is right or wrong.

That wasn't very nice... This isn't even a very big Star Wars discussion either... Try not to insult people ok?

qui gonn
it is most appearent that elrond is the only one here who's not a complete idiot. why would meditating change someone's death. anyway qui gonn was meditating in the middle of the battle. so, ryan, tater i dont care where you discussed this before, you are wrong!

Re: qui gonn
GL himself said that it would be explained in the next movie. He said the key phrase was, "When you strike me down, I'll become more powerful..." etc., etc.
