The U.S. has eradicated 'hunger'!!

So, first off, I'm not a new member...I've just been away for a while. I thought I'd kick off my return with some food for thought.

I was born and raised in Virginia. Did you know, that last year 1 in 12 people in Virginia went hungry? Well, this year no one in Virginia, or the entire United States, will go hungry.
There is no longer a word 'hunger' or 'hungry'. There are no longer hungry people. There are only people who 'do not have adequate access to food'.
This year in Virginia, according to statistics given by a teacher I respect, 2 in 12 people in Virginia will have inadequate access to food this year.

Well, atleast they aren't going hungry.

Are you serious?

Because that is beyond stupid. Talk about hiding your head in the sand!

Also, welcome back MBSS!

I dunno, 'inadequate access to food' sounds still like going hungry to me...

And I wouldn't want to tell a roughly 800 000 people that "No, you can't be hungry, you just have an inadequate access to food. Move along."

Lovely.

Who came up with this silly idea?

Well, apparently, "hunger" has political connections.

Typical politicking.

'inadequate access to food'

That's ridiculous On the other hand, in this country there is probably more of a safety net than there is elsewhere, between foods stamps and the different organizations that hand out food. Still doesn't mean some people, especially children and the elderly who can't care for themselves, aren't going hungry.
