Happy Chanuka

Happy Chanuka to Radagast the Brown, Hobbit and others who may celebrate it. Don't expect me to get on here everynight though.

So what do you do for the holiday? I've celebrated it a couple of times - but I don't remember much.

well, im celebrating it tonight by playing Christmas carols in a brass ensemble at our town Christmas tree lighting. Nice of them to have it on the first night of Chanuka, haha - we wont even be able to light the menorah until after we get back, well after sunset. I'll be wearing a big menorah pin on my jacket. Susan Sarandon will be lighting it

As Chanuka presents, I got my computer hardrive upgraded from 40 GB to 200 GB. And I got a very nice DVD burner. Also probably will be getting some nice DVDs.

Will be seeing my relatives at some point during these 8 days. Ben won't be back until Christmas break.

Thanks.. Happy Chanuka(?)!

We celebrated it... with just family gathering. And eating. That's it basically - singing songs, lighting candles, blessing (that's one of the only time I do it every year)... like every Hanuca.

What are Chanuka presents? A copy of Christmass for jews?

Hey, I was just chatting with Rad about this, and he said over there they don't call it a menorah - the menorah is the thing with 7 branches, not 9. They called it something else, but I forgot what it was.

Anyway, Happy Chanuka to whoever celebrates it! Enjoy the good food and the traditions

(and don't ask Rad for baking lessons .... )

Why are there different spellings for Chanuka? Which one is correct?

Happy Chanuka everyone. What are some Chanuka traditions? What day does it start on? Is it correct that it lasts 8 days?

I've always spelled it with "ch" because that was the traditional way of spelling it - I didn't even know people spelled it with an "h" until I went out to Indiana - where there were no jews. Spelling it with an "h" I always felt was the "lazy" spelling. I think however it's spelled with two n's though.
