What is your favourite poem/song by Tolkien?
Tolkien wrote so many stunning poems that I thought there aught to be such a thread

well, the first poem in Lotr is astonishing!
"One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them". can't leave that unoticed. also, i fancy the poem Bilbo have made for Aragorn. theres more but theese two is the absoulute favorites

Errantry. Hands down. It's just a... fun poem.
Then The Mewlips, and The Hoard. Both more dark and less silly, but fun in their own way. FYI: If you've never read Tolkien's stand-alone poetry, you're missing out on the best stuff.

"I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen"... This is most haunting and beautiful poem of all. I think in this poem Tolkien expressed his own feeling about the passing time. |
