Silmarillion Artwork
Hey, I looked back through the Silmarillion forum, and through the Middle-earth forum for a thread that this could go in, and could find nothing, NOTHING!!!!!!!!
So, anyway, I have been looking for awhile, brousing the web for good JRR Tolkien inspired artwork, mainly stuff having to do with things in the Silmarillion, such as Doriath, and Gondolin, and Nargothrond, and such, but I cant seem to find anything. Most places only have stuff from Lord of the Rings, with very little Silmarillion artwork. If any of you know of a good art site that has the pictures of these things (but not limited to these things), please let me know, because I want to know, and dont know. Thanks! Also, if I missed the thread where this was (because i could have sworn there was one), just refer me to that thread and delete this one or whatever, I dont want to clutter the place.

Well, even if there is another thread, it would be pretty old. You may want to try Rolozo Tolkien's art gallery on the web. there is a ton of good art there. Ted Nasmith does a lot of artwork from the Silmarillion. I have the illustrated edition of the Sil by him, and it is simply beautiful.

I was actually just at the Rolozo and it wouldnt let my computer upload the images, saying that windows couldnt read them, which I assume means that my computer is retarded. Any ideas on what is going on? Also, thank you for the help (I was just going to PM you anyway, but I figured that others might be wondering too, so her it is)
EDIT: I just read the website, it says that the lawyers of the Tolkien estate asked him to remove the images. Dang!

Yeah, that guy had some skill. Well, I cant find out how to enlarge them, but AOL is trudging though the things for me, and is working fine. Thank you, and if you find anything else, and if I find what I am looking for, I will post the link, so others can check it out.

That will be great Beor. Btw, since we are dealing with Silmarillion artwork more than anything here, I'm going to go ahead and move this thread to the Sil forum.

Personally I'm very fond of Katherine Karina Chmiel's pics. They are also on Rolozo. Most of her pics are LotR-related, but recently she has done a few good motives from the Sil.

Indeed, Nerdanel, it is awesome! And Rolozo works really good once one accepts the fact that he is a monkey, a monkey who knows how to do only basic stuff on the internet. Me trying to figure out how to use that easy to navagate place was like watching the apes on 2001: A Space Odessy figure out the wheel or whatever.
EDIT: Check it out, Turin looks like Jimmy Page !

Thanks, Falagar! Even my younger brother was amazed; and he doesn't care at all about art.

www.elfwood.com has got some nice Tolkien drawings, even though they're nearly all done by amateur artists. But since the site is huge, you better use the search engine or you're still be looking here next year. (I speak from experience) When I typed silmarillion in the search function, I found quite a few silmarillion drawings. Not as good as those of Nasmith and the others but good enough too.
