Experiment: Typical Tolkien Fan
Hey... I got an idea for an experiment to conduct regarding the typical Tolkien fan personality. Please take this test:
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp There are 4 main personality types, Artisan, Rational, Guardian, and Idealist, and then there are 4 more specific types for each of the main categories. Post your 4-initial personality type here. I'm trying to see if there is a more typical personality type that likes Tolkien. Maybe we should make the people in the actual lotr board aware of this, as soem of the best Tolkien fans go there and not here... I will start by saying I am an INTP Oh and when you're done, go here to read more about your personality type.

I'm an INFJ
11 67 22 11 I've taken questionaires like this before....I always score low on the categories...but, this one was worded differently than a lot of them, and had less questions...i always get different classifications...and they tell me to "interpret the results with caution" (exact wording) because my scores are so mild.... |

Alright! There's a whole new wave of mooters whose minds I haven't crept into yet. I just retook this typology test. I'm pretty surprised I first took it only a year ago, because I feel like I've changed so much. In fact, I was half-expecting to be classified diferently this time. But I'm still a Mastermind, like Stephen Hawkin, Eisenhower, Newton, and General Grant. This time though, I'm much more healthy: slightly expressed introverted: 22 slightly expressed intuitive: 12 slightly expressed thinking: 19 slightly expressed judging: 22 The confounding variable for me would be that I've been longing for a while for some sort of energy connection with other people that I haven't been able to get. So I'd love that, but don't feel it normally and if I did I'd be satisfied; so I think I'm still a bit more introverted than I scored. How about more of you? The test doesn't take long.

Boy, I find my results depressing. I'm an INTJ.
Introvert - 78 Intuitive -- 33 Thinking -- 22 Judging --- 1 At least I'm glad that I'm not the most introverted here

Your Type is
ISTP Introverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving Strength of the preferences % 56 1 89 22 Qualitative analysis of your type formula _You are: moderately expressed introvert slightly expressed sensing personality very expressed thinking personality slightly expressed perceiving personality Portrait of the Crafter (iStP)_ "Top Gun"_ or "The Virtuoso" Copyrighted © 1996-1999 Prometheus Nemesis Book Company. The Crafter Artisans are not only concrete in speech and utilitarian in getting things done, they are also directive and attentive in their social roles. Though directive like their Promoter counterparts, their directiveness is leavened by a good deal of attentiveness and seclusiveness. They do not approach strangers readily, but once in contact do not hesitate to tell them what to do. And they can be quite forceful in this, such that others tend to do their bidding. Like the other Artisans, Crafters live a life is artful action, but their particular nature is most easily seen in their mastery of tools of any and all kinds, from microscopic drill to supersonic jet, from potter's wheel to grand piano. A tool is any implement that extends or varies our human powers_ -- vehicles, musical instruments, cutting devices, and weapons are just four of the many categories of the tools that surround us. Most of us use tools in some capacity, of course, but Crafters (only ten per cent of the general population) are the true virtuosos of tool work, with a natural ability to command tools, to bend them to their wishes, and to become adept at all the crafts requiring tool skills. Even from an early age Crafters are drawn to tools as to a magnet; tools fall into their hands demanding use, and they must manipulate them. Indeed, if a given tool, whether scalpel or earthmover, is operated with a precision that defies belief, that operator is likely an Crafter.

Jonathan, you are a Mastermind. Last time I did this I got Mastermind as well. I don't put much stock into these tests, cos it really depends on what mood you're in when you do them.

well yes BOP but this is a bit of an approximate experiment... I have taken the test and I get either ISTP or INTP, so there are some variations, but I'm definately expecting there to be more I--- tolkienites, atleast
and jesus freak, the results are not "good" or "bad", it's just a calculation of your personality/temperament based on the answers you gave.

I agree with you about the reliability of these kinds of tests. If I was in another mood, I would have answered differently on many of the questions. But it's nice being a Mastermind for today
