RPG RPG: The Search for Treebeard
A bright morning in April, 2013. The Eaves of Fangorn beside the Entwash.
Treebeard is missing. Valandil scans the horizon to see what other mooters will join him in the search. Will Earniel? Varnafinde? Midge? Will Graymouser come, and will he bring his RPG? And... the over-riding questions: What has happened to Treebeard? What will be the ransom demands? Who could be behind it? Has Quickbeam gone bad? Whatever the answers, he hopes they won't be long in coming. RL continues to exert a tremendous pull.

Valandil turned from watching the Investigative Team assemble, facing the forest once more. It was then that he saw the yellow post-it on a tree.
"First demand a shrubbery?" he thought. "Why on Middle-earth would they want a shrubbery?" Looking into the edge of the forest, he saw plenty of likely shrubberies nearby. But the idea of up-rooting one - if this adventure should draw them deeper into Fangorn - was utterly unappealing. "Perhaps somebody happened to bring one," he mused.

Midge stretched and got up from the comfy couch in the Teacup Cafe. She'd heard the news about the missing Ent, of course, but wasn't sure what she could do to rectify it, other than making a few dry comments over tea and cookies.
Then she noticed Val was standing outside the Cafe, looking rather like he was starting a quest of some kind. I'm game, she thought, and strode outside. Val turned to look out in the forest and noticed a post-it note. As soon as he said "First demand a shrubbery?", Midge felt the response building in her. She tried to hold it in, but after a few seconds it came bursting out anyway. "NI!" she cried.

"Oh no!" exclaimed Valandil, sighting the second yellow post-it. "They threaten Treebeard's very person."
"What do they intend? To send him back to us twig-by-twig and board-by-board?" "SPAMMERS ARISE! AWAKE YOU ALL, AND POST AWAY!"

*Eärniel is happily drinking a cup of tea in the Teacup Café when a strange post-it note appears pasted on an empty patch of forest. She reads the new demands.*
Eärniel: Mkay, I can understand wanting a shrubbery, they're pretty. But four dozen of new posts within a week? *She looks around the rather empty and silent Teacup Café. Crickets chirp, tumbleweed rolls by.* Eärniel: *snorts* Oh, yeah, that'll work. *she sips some more tea.* Eärniel: *mutters* Amateurs. |

Then as her powers of patience were coming to an end, she cried, "Find Tessar! It has been PROVEN that he is an admin who does not mind abusing his power to override this rule!"
And her strength failed and she fell into a 5-minute over-patient nap.

In a sudden flash, what appear to be green-colored parchments begin to rain down on Entmoot-Town from amidst the looming trees. The two willows which sit on either side of the road in front of the Entmoot Administrative Building seem to take on a menacing look as their bark scrunches up to make a grimace, and their branches lash about like sorcering wands.
Coming out of the EAB, Hector picks up this green-tinted note and reads: Behold! Listen your feeble ears to our warning! We have your ent hostage, and mean to take your whole forest if you refuse our terms. This is our last warning before we take ransom-pay for ourselves. If you flaunt our pronounced rules you will have cause to weep of your life. Signed His Lord Eminence High Majesty Emperor-Sun-King "There must be something more I can find out about this guy," thinks Hector as he slowly ambles (it had been a long day of work) down the green path towards the Teacup. He had helped to solve many mysteries in his time, but this was a stumper. He needed some tea, first. "I think TB could help with this," he thought, thinking not of tuberculosis, but of Trolls' Bane the famous Entmooter.

"Hail, Sir Greye Wolfe, you come at a needy hour. What number of men in your fold who can fight? I think we will find a battle at the end of this." Thus spake Sir Hector, donned as he had full armor, and on horseback too, hasped and ready for a journey across harsh marshes, long-legged plains, and thickly forests.

Her over-patient nap having come to an end, Midge was pleased to see that more people were joining the quest. She looked to Val and Earn (who had plastic gecko in hand) and queried,
"Are we going to stand around all day?"

Eärniel: As long as there's tea and chocolate, I don't see why not... *thwirls gecko around in her hand* I mean, we could just run around looking for him, trample all over Middle-earth and still come up empty. Or maybe we could first plan this a little? Like finding out whether Treebeard had any enemies? And whether any of them had the temerity and cunning do orchestrate such a kidnapping? Or would that be too logical?

"Well, do you expect ME to do all the thinking?" Midge asked accusingly, with a glare.
"I'm pretty sure that Treebeard got rid of all the Orcs and other.. you know... bad guys at Orthanc, right?" Then she has a brain-wave. "WHATIF.... Evil Santa is an ORC?"
