Was The Silmarillion written with Christopher's own words?
I've always been curious as to who actually wrote the text in The Silmarillion.
I know Tolkien invented the stories, but did he write the book word for word? I've heard several theories: some say Tolkien himself wrote the chapters, and his son merely put them together in the correct order; but I've also heard that The Silmarillion is written with Christopher's own words, and he wrote it based on lots of annals and whatnot that Tolkien had left lying around. So, what's correct? |

It's a mixture. Some things were writen by Tolkien, and mearly incerted, whilst others (especially the chapters after Turin Turambar) were writen by Chris to keep them consistant with the other stories.
