Aragorn’s Claim to the Throne
Chalk this one up to (sarcastic) humor:
The Illegitimacy of Aragorn’s Claim to the Throne Denethor agreed, though. |

It misses two points, though. One: Aragorn was also descended from F*riel and through her from the line of Anárion, something this article conveniently omits. Two: Erendis maaaay not be the most... reliable character witness for the worth of Númenorean society and civilisation, 'cos the poor woman had issues, even if not all were of her own making, mind. Although, part of me is now wishing Gondor actually had decided to go Republic when Aragorn showed up rather than restoring the monarchy, and he then got to be President for like say, two decades (to take them darn Dúnedain lifespans into account). That would have been cool. (And then Aragorn would be succeeded by Faramir, and then after he did all allowed terms, Éowyn could put in her candidacy and we could have watched the Gondorean political world go nuts over whether she was Gondorean enough for the office and she had to chase down her birth certificate and her parents' wedding certificate in Edoras' archives, hoping Éomer's kids hadn't turned them into origami horses yet. Could have been more entertaining then another golden age of Gondor, just sayin'. ) |

Aragorn II is descended in a direct, unbroken line from Isildur, son of Elendil. Which is why my fan-fic character, Mordomin, hates him for failing to destroy the One Ring. Well, it is more complicated than that.

The whole split-lines' aspect of the story was totally omitted from the PJ telling of the story.
