Sam finding Frodo
I was just wondering....
Since they cut songs from the movie, how is Sam going to find Frodo in "The Tower of Cirith Ungol"? That is one of my favorite parts in the book, I hope they don't change it too much. |

You've got a good point there- I don't know. Maybe they'll just put that song in . . .

Maybe he'll hear Frodo snoring or sneezing or something. Or maybe they'll change it entirely. We have to wait til Christmas to find out!

Sam also knew where he was due to hearing Frodo scream when the Orc had struck him with the whip. That's probably how he'll find him in the movie, I'm sure.

Some one will have to tie me to my seat to stop me from leaping up and giving that orc a taste of his own whip. Grrrr.

Since its such a great scene, I'm sure that PJ will make it seem that Sam has lost all hope, just like in the book, then the singing will start and Sam will find Frodo, also like in the book.
I can't see him changing this, and if he does.....well......I'll be mad

Well I couldn't see Jackson changing the Flight to the Ford scene besides replacing Glorfindel with Arwen - and look at how much he changed that.
Does anyone really think that "If you want him - come and claim him" is better than "You will have neither the Ring nor me"??

You are 100% correct, NJDEVIL.
It wasn't until just now that I remembered where your signature came from. I don't like to complain about the movie, because I loved it so much...but that whole scene was kinda goofy the way they played it, compared to the book. (Is it too late to get my money back for the first two times I've seen it and for the next couple of times, as well?)

I think that because it's going to be such an intense book we're gonna have Frodo kind of screaming when he gets whipped and then Sam springs up the ladder kills the orc and finds Frodo with(hopefully)something around his waist or buried under some rags or something like that or maybe wrapped in his cloak or SOMETHING.
Sam

Yeah, I can picture the screaming. He seems to be good at that.

*Sob* Don't cut more songs...please...don't cut them. I hope they'll include Sam's song. But I really hope they DON'T show Frodo naked. Any nakedness is yucky.

SPOILERS ***Cirith Ungol
SPOILERS ************************
********************** ********************** Actually, according to Bill Wheldan on the 'official' movie website the scene between Sam and Frodo in the tower was filmed. Seems to indicate that Frodo has been stripped of his clothes. If done well, this will be quite an emotional scene. http://lordoftherings.net/ >>Later, we sit and watch the filming, in the top room of the tower of Cirith Ungol. The scene is trimmed to its essentials. The dialog is not always Tolkien's, but I have to return to the book to be sure, the spirit is so close. I get to hear one of my favorite lines: "You can't go walking in the Black Land in naught but your skin, Mr. Frodo." The essence of Sam. Peter gives the dialog a subtext. Sam is thinking, "I'm going to destroy that thing that's causing you so much pain -- by myself if that's what's needed." They spend all day on this bit, so critical to the emotional arc of the story. In the end, Sean Astin as Sam delivers the line with weariness, grief, determination, courage, and love. I leave with tears in my eyes. << |

I personally couldn't care less. I saw a wonderful drawing by someone of this scene though...it was perfect.
