lord of the rings fellowship of the rings
Wow I just got the game its great...lots of good visuals plus it is based on the book. I havebt gotten very far but i have wandred around and its very deep and explorable. It is much better than th other lotr game which was basically hack n slash crap. So i hope to play this game much more in depth this weekend. Anyone esle think this game rulezzzzzzzzz?

Which LOTR game are you refering to? I played the demo of the one based on the book and I personally didn't like it. The opening cutscene was very nice, but I did not enjoy the gameplay.

I am eager for that game to come out on Gamecube later this year so I can try it out. It has recieved some positive reviews (especially when compared to reviews of the book's games)

You thought the FOTR game was better? My brother, who is some video game fanatic, told me that the reviews for the FOTR one were awful, and it was supposed to be awful, but TTT one was supposed to be excellent. So I was going to but TTT... but you say its bad? Maybe the FOTR one would be boring to anyone but big LOTR fans, thats why it got bad reviews? I don't know, I can't afford both, any other opinions?

Sorry to have to disagree with you as well Wizrdsmagic13. Though of course everyone to their own. I have waited nealy two years in anticipation for a release of Lord of the Rings on PC and frankly when it finally arrived I was very disappointed.
You said it is full of exploration and depth and no cut scenes. You'll soon discover that this is untrue as you progress rapidly through the game. It can apparently take six hours to complete, I don't call that depth, and there are as much cut scenes as gameplay. The whole part from Rivendell to Moria is cut out. Also you never get to play the whole fellowship as a party which is crap. I agree that it starts off pretty good, and it does have nice graphics and atmosphere, but that's about it. The plot is so linear you could virtually use a ruler. You can't wander off the beaten track and if you try your character freezes. Your roleplay options are limited to throwing stones, or swinging a weapon, and most of the early plots are solved by a combination of these only. I find it sad that Interplay's effort in the early 90's was ridiculed for being too long and detailed and was voted so poorly they never completed the trilogy, which seems to be having a knock on affect now. It's a shame they have to cater for the impatient when reproducing the greatest works of literature on computer. The possibilities with today's Pcs are endless. I will be swapping it tomorrow, and I never envisaged that. |

Bah humbug, I know its really grinchy of me. But I dont reccomend The Two Towers game at all. It does have alot of cut scenes, its very narrow, one path you go through killing orcs along the way. Just watch the movie instead.
The Fellowship of the ring game( PS2) I thought was really good. I didnt see anycut scenes, theres alot of exploring, its cute. Its not the best game ever but if you liked the books, then the games good. They have all of Hobbiton, Tom Bombadil, the barrow downs, Rivendell and the council, all that good stuff. I thought it was a cute little game, short yeah, but oh well I still liked it. ~Celebréiel Oh yeah, my rage is still simmering after seeing TT movie, so I might have a little bias towards the game, but I just didint like it. Imo!

Gandalf: Aragorn is right. We cannot use it!
Beleg: Celebréiel is right. I do not like it! Not the game, the movie. Both games are good! But I like the movie-based game better (even though the movie itself was crap).

I personally liked the FotR game more. It's refreshing to see a different spin on Middle-Earth and the Lord of the Rings; not saying that I dislike the movies, on the contrary, I liked them both. But...Tom Bombadil, nuff said.

I know it is on PC and PS2; I'm pretty sure it's on more systems, but I don't know which. Xbox, I think.

I've got it on Pc. For Christmas.
I'm stuck at the part where you leave to meet Merry Pippin and Sam at Maggots Farm but as soon as I start I get killed by a Nazgúl I've tried everything. Throwing rocks to distract him, sneaking. I put on the ring for as long as I can put they always get me!!! HELP!!! |

You just have to be very careful; sneak to stay out of view, throw rocks to draw their attention elsewhere, and don't get close to them.
I remember once one of them spotted me, and I climbed up the windmill; you might try that if you can stay ahead of them, but their on your tail.

You'll probably want TTT first; it has Legolas from the movie.
