Lunar Eclipse
Only heard this morning that there's to be a lunar eclipse tomorrow night. Apparently the full eclipse will be in approximately the 7:00 to 7:30 timeframe - that's Central Standard Time - or, right about 29 hours from the time stamp on this post. Hope most of you get to see it (being a world-wide site though, some of you will miss it)!
DEFINITELY gotta get the two older boys out to see this! |

There was a full lunar eclipse here a few nights ago, at about 0300. Didn't see it this time since I've experienced it before, and it happens quite often.
Hope you'll have a nice view, Valandil.

*gets out "What's Out Tonight? 50 year Astronomy field guide, 2000 - 2050", a great reference book I highly recommend*
Oh yes, Nov. 8, early evening, Continental US and Canada. We'll be there! Thanks for the heads-up! We have to wait until August 2017 until the next total solar eclipse in the US. I've never seen one.

It won't be visible here until 1 am, so I'll see it if I stay awake. Hope those of you who live in more forgiving timezones enjoy it though
I saw the solar eclipse a few years ago (well, I saw it reflected on a bit of paper, but you know what I mean). That was really cool

Hey, I get to watch it right now. We've got this window here behind me; I'm looking up every now and then at it. It's actually pretty cool.
Did anyone else see that giant meteor shower last year? (I think there was a thread on that somewhere)

Really cool stuff. I was going to take some pictures, but the zoom on my camera sucks, so I would have just ended up with a small white dot.

I saw it! I'm really pleased. I'd just gone to bed, and then I saw on the teletext there was an eclipse so I got straight back up again and went outside. Was out there for ages and froze half to death, but it was worth it. I 'phoned a friend up and woke him up and asked him to go and take some pictures - he moaned like mad, but he did get some. I hope they come out!
I saw the solar eclipse too. It was weird. There was only a tiny bit of the sun left shining and still it was really light, just like getting to the end of the day really but without all the long shadows. It made me realise just how strong the sun is! But I've never seen a meteor shower. I've looked but never seen it. But I did see Halley's comet a long while back. That was cool |

Dju! I missed it! I can't believe I just forgot! I realised only when I got up this morning and saw dad's camera still standing downstairs. And then he talked about how awesome it had been and how great the weather had been to see it. Fne. I hope his pictures turn out good, then at least I get to see something of the eclipse.

Wow, a lot more people went outside than I expected.
I went out to rent a movie last night, and as I'm sitting in the car outside of Blockbuster, the clerk stepped outside to look at the moon. Then a couple walks out of the store, an Indian man, and a freakishly tall black man coming from his car. All staring at the sky, like in a really bad commercial.
