I think that newbie's are good (in my oppinion the more mooters the marrier), but then again I have only been on the moot for around 1 1/2 months so some may still consider me a newbie.

It would be fun to get a run of over 25 newbies, just for a change. It doesn't matter if you're new or not, it just boils down to interesting, intelligent communication. Can you, or can't you....

It doesn't appear to be an issue here, but I've seen other communities go down the toilet over the "newbie" issue.
Not every newbie is really a "newbie". Some ppl, although new to a community, have been on the 'net for years, and usually know enough to "lurk before leaping". However, there are also a lot of elitist "Senior Members" out there that seem to enjoy flaming newbies, whether they post intelligently or not. The total effect is that new members worth adding to a community don't stick around, leaving behind the ruling clique, along with all the flamers, wankers, and trolls that enjoy stirring up the hornets' nest and watching the reaction. |

Sometimes less is more, if you know what I mean. There is no need to flood the board with small talk, just because you have some spare time. Please!

I'd have to agree, if as long as they know the topic fairly well and can hold an intelligent conversation they're fine. Fangirls on the other hand.... eeeevilllll......

i have nothing against newbies. i could be considered a newbie, cause ive only been here for less than two months. i only classify newbies as people who dont know how to get around the site yet without getting lost, but they catch on quickly enough.
and fangirls? fangirls are just...... um....... well........ fangirl-ee. yeah. but me? fangirl? (proceeds to click onto "favorites" section on aol completely devoted to orlando bloom) i mean, honestly! how could you think such a thing?! to sum this up, newbies good, fangirls....... um....... fangirl-ee

Like I said, I like newbie's. Fangirls are good (so long as they don't drool all over every thread), but I can't talk because I am a fangirl (but not as fangirl-ee as some). |

Intelligent? Great; glad to meet 'em. Spammers, chat-room grads, folks who show up for the sole purpose of being fangirls with NO OTHER TOLKEIN KNOWLEDGE??!! AAAHHH! Help!
We were all newbies, once, after all.

Laurelyn and Elenka about summed it up.
Good newbies, great! Chat-room folk wot can't spel or typ strait n use l33t...erhem...well...I think I'll stop with them now! Anyway, they are bad, IMO. Usually quite annoying, having little to contribute to a discussion, but with an urge to post something. The result: Off-topic or Completely Spam. And fangirls...Of course, when I say fangirls, I mean the REALLY OBVIOUS fangirls. FrodoFriend certainly seems to be shall we say an 'admirer', but she is most definitely a good part of our community. Fangirls like her, cass, etc. are just great. But other fangirls... *end rant and mindless babble*

Are you a newbie?
*looks at registration date* By gaw, so you are! Anyway, you would definitely fall under the category of good newbie. An excellent example of 'bad newbie' would have been narsil's master.

yes, gwaimir, narsil's master was a pretty good example of a bad newbie. i don't have any negative comments to say about newbies as long as their not being stupid little twats about things. for example, after being here about three weeks to a month, they hold themselves in such high esteem to those who joined only about a week or two after them. boy, did i misuse a lot of words in that last comment, alright, im cutting myself off, coney's got me so rattled up, and i haven't slept in what seems like days so im going to bed.
