Well it looks like I am the only one who has read it....which is a shame as it has to be one of the best books I have read in recent years. Absolutely jammed packed with interesting/horrid/good/bad - take your pick characters. The story is told through the eyes of it's various protagonists, it combines adventure and slapstick on the one hand and high drama on the other. It highlights the shameful treatment of the Aboriginies by the English from both those who didn't know any better and those who should have known better, it and shows just what a brutal place Tasmania was during the 18th Century.
This is a beautifully observed book that races along at cracking pace. Its highly entertaining and thought-provoking. Safe to say, everyone gets their just desserts. I highly recommend it
